Ray Rice, Darnell Stapleton and Jeremy Ito, July 13, 2008
Ray Rice has re-written the Rutgers record books in the 3 years he played for the Scarlet Knights. Along with the beloved Brian Leonard, Rice has helped turn Rutgers into a national football power. Rutgers, after going to one bowl game over their 100+ year history (they played in the first college football game in 1869), have gone to 3 bowls in the last three years. Rice was drafted in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens.
Darnell Stapleton started at center for Rutgers for 2 years, leading the team to the Insight Bowl and the Texas Bowl. He spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being signed as an undrafted free agent.
Like Rice, Jeremy Ito has re-written the RU record books. He holds most of the kicking records after starting for the last 4 years. He also picked up the punting responsibilities last year, his senior season.
