The 4th of July marks the halfway point of the summer season for a college student like myself. It’s a holiday not only for hot dogs and fireworks, but for reflecting on the summer so far and on the dog days yet to come.
It marks many unforgettable Yankee moments worthy of reflection. 82 years ago on this date, “The Boss” George Steinbrenner was born. 29 years ago today, David Righetti threw his first and only no-hitter. And 73 years ago, the infamous Luckiest Man on Earth speech was delivered by Lou Gherig.
For Sports Fan Promotions, July 4th this year marks the start of a fun filled next two months. We have the Bart Oates Fishing Trip in Point Pleasant on July 21 and Matt Hardy coming to Park East Hazlet on August 20 among other exciting events. So while you enjoy your day off this Independence Day, we’re already looking forward to July 5th and the great summer events and opportunities that lie ahead! Happy birthday America!
