Chris Snee gets the big Contract

By Brian B. | July 1st, 2008

Chris Snee, a  client of Sports Fan Promotions has signed a new contract.

According to a report on the Newark Star-Ledger’s Web site, the offensive right guard from Montrose and the defending Super Bowl champions have agreed in principle to a six-year contract extension.

Snee was supposed to be a free agent at the end of the 2008 season. Now, the extension will keep him with the Giants through the 2014 campaign.

According to a published Associated Press report, Snee signed the contract for $43.5 million for the six years.

Snee started every game for the Giants last season, including their 17-14 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

He also has started all 59 games of his four-year NFL career.

For the record Chris is a great guy who I have worked with a lot over the last year.  I am sure this will not change his personality and if anyone deserves it he does.

Giants to Charge Personal Seat License in New Stadium

By Marv S. | June 30th, 2008

Last week, the NY Giants announced that they will charge ticket holders (or potential ones) between $1,000 and $20,000 for the rights to purchase season tickets.  The season tickets themselves will cost above and beyond the PSLs.  The PSLs are an asset and can be bought and sold.  They are valid for a specific seat for Giants games in the new stadium.

The reason the Giants are charging for these is two-fold.  First, they need to repay bonds on the new stadium they will share with the NY Jets.  Second, because they can.  It’s simple supply and demand.  People are willing to pay that amount (or maybe they aren’t….time will tell).

While PSLs have become more common around the country, they have not been used in the NY metro area.

So, how do the fans see it?  A team being greedy?  Having fans pay for an improved game-day experience?  Others?

Feel free to comment.

AENEAS WILLIAMS – (Football) A third-round draft pick of out of Southern University in 1991, after walking on to the Jaguars team out of Fortier High School, Williams earned a reputation as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks during a sparkling 14-year NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals (1991-2000) and St. Louis Rams (2001-04). He was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time All-Pro pick in becoming one of the league’s top shutdown corners before moving to safety late in his career. He played in 211 regular-season games with 206 starts, seeing action in 183 consecutive games with 180 straight starts before a broken fibula in 2002 ended those streaks. He had 55 career interceptions, collecting at least four picks in eight of 14 seasons, and came up with six interceptions in postseason play. He led or shared the NFL lead among cornerbacks three times. Williams was named to the NFL Team of the 1990s at cornerback along with Deion Sanders, Darrell Green and Rod Woodson. Williams returned nine interceptions for TDs in his career, tying him for second-most in NFL history behind Woodson’s 12. He also returned three fumbles for touchdowns while recovering 23 fumbles. Williams set an NFL record in 2001 with two TDs on interceptions (both off Brett Favre) in the same playoff game. A week later, his interception of Donovan McNabb with 1:47 left sealed a win in the NFC title game and helped the Rams reach Super Bowl XXXVI — which was played in his hometown of New Orleans. At Southern, he ranked second in Division I-AA with seven interceptions as a junior and tied for the national lead in 1990 with 11.
