Rutgers Spectacular 5 Signing Order

By Marv S. | March 16th, 2009

We have finalized the operational details for the Rutgers Spectacular 5 Show to be held on March 28, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gambino’s Inn in New Brunswick, NJ.  Appearing will be Rutgers recent stars Kenny Britt, Mike Teel, Tiquan Underwood, Jason McCourty, Jamaal Westerman, Kevin Malast as well as returning NFL stars Ray Rice and Super Bowl Champion Darnell Stapleton.  We have also announced a special mystery guest will be attending too.

All of the players will be appearing and signing at the same time.  Superticket “A” ticket holders followed by Superticket “B” and then “C” ticket holders will be the first ones to go in for autographs.  Within each group, tickets will be numbered and given out in the order of purchase — starting with advance purchase tickets.

Tickets for individual players will go next — by lowest number for all tickets held.  Again, tickets numbers will be given out in the order they are purchased starting with advance purchase tickets.  For example, if you hold a #100 for Britt, #125 for Rice and #150 for Teel, when we call “Now serving 95-100″, you will be able to enter the player area and get all three of your autographs.

Buying tickets in advance will not only save you from standing on a line to buy tickets, but it will get you into the player area quicker.  We are expecting a large crowd for the event.

Jamaal Westerman added to Rutgers Spectacular Show; Greene Out

By Marv S. | March 3rd, 2009

We are pleased to announce the addition of Rutgers defensive end Jamaal Westerman to the Rutgers Spectacular 5 show to be held March 28, 2009 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Gambino’s Inn, 284 Remsen Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ.  Westerman was a standout for the Scarlet Knights this year, leading the team in sacks.  He played a good part of the season with a torn bicep muscle, which was very painful.  He missed the Papajohns.com Bowl after surgery to repair the bicep.  He is projected to be a late round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Westerman replaces safety Courney Greene in the show’s lineup.  Greene had an unavoidable conflict and cannot appear at the show.  Those people who have purchased advance tickets involving Greene will be contacted to make any changes or to get a refund.

Appearing at the show with Westerman will be WRs Kenny Britt and Tiquan Underwood, QB Mike Teel, CB Jason McCourty, along with NFL star RB Ray Rice and OL and Super Bowl Champion Darnell Stapleton.

Visit the Rutgers Spectacular page for more information on pricing and to purchase advance tickets.  Contact us should you have any questions.

Kenny Britt and Courtney Greene to Appear at Rutgers Football Spectacular Show

By Marv S. | February 18th, 2009

As promised, we have added two additional players to the Rutgers Spectacular show.  The two new additions:

  • Wide receiver Kenny Britt.  Britt, from Bayonne, NJ is leaving for the NFL one year early.  He holds a number of Rutgers receiving records and would probably hold them all if he stayed for his senior year. Britt is one of three Scarlet Knights invited to the NFL scouting combine and could be the first Scarlet Knight drafted in the first round.  Some sources have Britt as a top-10 pick.
  • Safety Courtney Greene.  Greene hails from the same high school as Ray Rice, the former RU running back standout now playing for the Baltimore Ravens.  Rice will also be appearing at this show.  Greene is noted for his hard hitting and his durability in addition to his skills as a defender.  He will also be at the NFL scouting combine.  Some sources have him going in the top 75 picks.

The show will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 in new Brunswick, NJ.  The time, specific place and pricing will be announced.  We may also be adding more players.

Britt and Greene will joined the previously announced player appearing at the show:  quarterback Mike Teel, linebacker Kevin Malast, cornerback Jason McCourty and Super Bowl XLIII Champion OL Darnell Stapleton.

Rutgers Spectacular 5

By Marv S. | February 18th, 2009

Sports Fan Promotions is proud to announce the date for the 2009 Rutgers Spectacular show — Saturday, March 28, 2009.  The time is still to be determined and the event will be held somewhere in New Brunswick.  Currently confirmed NFL prospects include:

  • Quarterback Mike Teel.  Teel holds most of Rutgers passing records and has led Rutgers to bowl games — including 3 wins — in each of his seasons on the banks, the Insight Bowl, Texas Bowl, International Bowl and the Papa Johns.com Bowl.  Teel’s NFL stock rose considerably with a strong close to the 2008 season.
  • Cornerback Jason McCourty.  Jason has been a fixture at cornerback for Rutgers over his time there (along with his brother Devin, who will play one more year for the Scarlet Knights).  Jason opened some eyes with his return game late in this past season.  He is considered a legitimate NFL prospect by many sources and projected as a late round pick.
  • Linebacker Kevin Malast.  Malast led the Knights in tackles last season and was the leader in the middle of a surging defense.  He also had a 74 yard interception.

In addition to the current NFL propsects, we also have some former Knights who are now playing in the NFL:

  • Running Back Ray Rice.  Rice holds just about every rushing record in the RU record book.  He was drafted in the second round by the Baltimore Ravens and saw game time in his rookie season.  Against the Cleveland Browns, Rice rushed for 154 yards on 21 carries.
  • Offensive Lineman Darnell Stapleton.  Stapleton, an exlcusive client of Sports Fan Promotions, worked his way up from junior college, to starting at center for RU for 2 seasons, to being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers to starting for them most of this season and then winning a Super Bowl Championship this month.  His is truly an inspiring story.  This is his first appearance in NJ since the Super Bowl win.

We are anticipating adding additional players.  Once they are confirmed, they will be added to both the SPF website and the SPF blog.  You can sign up for the RSS feed from the blog and get all the latest news send to you.  We will also publish pricing, and the time and place of the event when they are available.

Darnell Stapleton

By Brian B. | February 1st, 2009

Good Luck in the Superbowl tonight. Just wanted to let everyone know that the appearance last week in Pitt was a success.

Good luck to Darnell Stapleton and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII

By Marv S. | January 27th, 2009

Pittsburgh Steelers starting offensive lineman Darnell Stapleton is an exclusive client of Sports Fan Promotions.  We have known Darnell since his senior year at Rutgers, just after the Texas Bowl.  You will be hard pressed to find a nicer person and a harder worker than Darnell.  He spent 2 years at a junior college before joining Rutgers and starting at center for 2 years. He was undrafted into the NFL, signed as a free agent by the Steelers on draft day in 2007.  With the loss of some lineman to free agency and injuries, Darnell was thrown into the fire and has started at right guard for most of this season, having never played the position before.  He has more than held his own.  Darnell even made an appearance on the Howard Stern show today.

This marks the second consecutive year that Sports Fan Promotions exclusive athletes have made an appearance in the Super Bowl.  Last year, we had Chris Snee, Barry Cofield, Gerris Wilkinson, Jared Lorenzen, Derrick Ward and Dave Tollefson.  It also marks the 3 straight year a Rutgers alumni has participated in the Super Bowl (Shaun O’Hara as New York Giants captain last year and Gary Brackett as Indianapolis Colts captain the year before).

We have autographed items from a number of these players available in the Sports Fan Promotions online store.

Best of luck to Darnell and his teammates in the big game!
